Personally I think it's about an ideological shift, starting with the death of an old member who'd been deeply involved for many decades, Pisco. I think that the more violent sides of the organization are taking over what had been a funding illegal research and development team. Gin is vying for more power, and killing off anyone who he thinks will oppose him. That way, when the end of the series comes (if it ever comes) Gin will be the boss that Conan has to face, because he pulled a coup and killed off the old boss.

Well Vermouth has gotten a decent amount of development. On the topic of Vermouth

Vermouth is most likely another agent, Gosho just hasn't angled her that way yet, along with Gin and Vodka all from different countries /sarcasm. I get the fact that yes Bourbon was heavily shown to be good though now we as the viewer are left with nothing, where is the mystery to the main plot anymore? It never moves even after 7 years...what has advanced? We are now back to where we were in 2008. Even dragonball z moved faster than this and they had some of the slowest scenes in anime. So out of all the members we have met from the BO who are still alive (Gin, Sherry, Vermouth, Vodka, Chanti, Korn, Kir, Bourbon, Rye) 5/9 are/were undercover or flipped. Over 50% of the known organization isn't even BO...The plot is getting a little more absurd than usual lately. Gosho needs to introduce at least another 20 BO members at this rate, because every time a serious BO member is introduce its non-cannon (Movie 13) or they get killed off very fast. /rant

Nobody started ranting on my earlier post where I asked whether the Japanese police know about the BO. If Amuro is in the secret police, then it's safe to say that the Japanese police know something about BO. Wouldn't it be cool if someone like Superintendent Matsumoto knew about BO? It would be a major plot twist as the police was supposed not to know anything about the BO.

Has anyone worked a theory about Amuro and his childhood? It doesn't makes sense that a spy from some organization is in BO since he is a child.

There's still a lot of room that Amuro is a real BO member that is spying the police. And he is trying to fool FBI and try to get them in one single move later <900>/feed them false information via Kir

Well... there's also a chance that Amuro was a real BO member that turn into a good guy after his relation with Date

What I'm starting to worry about is that Aoyama is alluding Gundam/The Departed a little too strong and Akai is going to end up being the undercover bad guy -_- That would be a foreseeable twist, right?
There has to be a setback at some point, reasonably a series of this length needs a significant set back or two right?

One thing we know for sure is:

Amuro is a good guy and will be a good guy when the chips are down, so I would say theories should probably revolve around that.

I mean, there are just a million ways all of this could go. I'd say something like this is possible:

Spoiler: Random theory (not one I particularly put stock into)

Elena is an MI6 agent, asset, or spy of some sort. Amuro was an orphan being raised within the Organization, but he was influenced by Elena, who was a good person that had infiltrated the Organization and didn't want to see the child corrupted. Amuro grew up to be a smart child and was sent into the police by the Organization to receive training from them and give the Organization a leg up on them (The Departed-influenced storyline). Ultimately, though, Amuro realized at least by the time he met Date that the Organization was actually bad and moved on.

There are plenty of problems with this route, but there are a lot with the recent happenings too, so I won't discount something like this just yet.

The only thing is that...

Akai specifically states that he suspected Amuro was a cop from their early days in the Organization together. Unless this is some sort of weird red herring, it may be worth considering Amuro has British influences and encountered Elena outside of an Organization context... which raises a lot of questions, too.

I don't like having things finally confirmed about a character that then turn out to be completely wrong after years of teasing and other red herrings, so if Gosho does make the above reality, that would be really unsettling.

Anyone know the name of the story? I tried to google it several different ways and couldn't find it. But that's what this is reminding me of.
