My hype for the upcoming chapter isn't nearly as the one i had last week.....we had to wait 2 weeks after amuro revealed Subaru as Akai!! Though that doesn't mean that 897 isn't full of awaited HYPE either!!!!!!

On the matter of the cellphone message, what if it isn't a time delay, but a sign that all incoming and outgoing calls and messages are blocked in the Kudo house unless explicitly allowed? Maybe Professor Agasa rigged the house to be a cell dead zone so that all of Amuro's incoming and outgoing calls can be intercepted and controlled by Agasa and Conan? They could spoof messages to Amuro, and send spoofed messages from Amuro back to Amuro's comrades.

The trick is that the message about Yuusaku winning didn't come in at all because it was autoblocked, and the TV being on is a decoy to suggest the house is receiving signals just fine. Technologically, that is feasible.

So you think it wasn't one of Amuro's guys who called him and that it was Conan (Agasa?)? Wouldn't it be strange since they shouldn't have heard any of Amuro's guys' voice, so they shouldn't be able to mimic their voice and lure Amuro, right?

And I think the same as PhantomWriter, this is horrible... Akai is as good and should be even better than Conan, detective or not. He's the most outstanding FBI agent who has inflitrated the Organization, and left it alive, shot Gin from 700 yards away etc etc... It's just too bad that Gosho gives this much importance to Conan when Akai is on par with him. Given that the focus is on Akai and Bourbon for this Scarlet series, Gosho should give some importance to Akai as well. I know this is Detective "Conan" but this doesn't mean he has to be "superior" to every guy in the manga and certainly not to Akai, seriously...

Is it me or do big hardcore FBI agents and random detectives are mor intrested in keeping Akiai's fake death a secret, rather than using that to allow Kir to gather informaion in order to take them down?

Im happy the story has no random murders at the moment but the pace and importance of who the BO arevand what they are doing is very slow. I believe Amouro, Kir, (properly done) and Sherri are key to changing this.

Im happy the story has no random murders at the moment but the pace and importance of who the BO arevand what they are doing is very slow. I believe Amouro, Kir, (properly done) and Sherri are key to changing this.

Well, Camel and Jodie aren't exactly in on the fake death plan. Jodie only just now figured out how Akai did it and Camel followed Akai's instructions about retracting the car roof. As for Kir, we haven't really seen her, nor has she been mentioned. There is a theory that Amuro isn't Organization and is instead Japanese police, so that means this plan is less dangerous for her, but it's not entirely without danger having Akai out in the open like this. (I am not sure what's going on, though.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is disappointed about that...akai is supposed to have much more experience with the BO than Conan,and I expect him to plan everything with Conan's help,not just being a tool like you said.

I think we all are disappointed about that.

I'm on board with this too. I was already a bit miffed when it was specifically stated that Conan had come up with the plan in the first place, but he's again taken all the spotlight. The only piece left now is for Yuusaku to remind everyone he's the smarestest man in the universe by the end of the case.

Akai should be a collaborator of Conan's, a partner. I know I wasn't the only one who thought that dating back to Clash, as Akai was shown to be the most capable among the FBI agents and a real rival of Gin's. Now, he's really just playing the part of pawn for Conan even though it is him (Akai), his friends (Jodie, Camel, the rest of the FBI), and their actual jobs and mission on the line. It's just a little bit peculiar that they have so little influence over their own lives and work when Conan's around, despite Akai knowing enough about the Organization to have been a member himself whereas Conan's only overheard them talking a few times, accidentally ended up in the same place as them, and has hardly even been in the same room as them before. Akai has actually been inside the Organization, has talked with members, has worked with them.

In short: Conan is doing more heavy-lifting than is necessary and it makes everyone else seem a bit braindead. Yes, we know Conan must be the smartest person around unless Yuusaku's involved, but having someone that has demonstrated they are intelligent and capable be a partner to that does not in any way downplay Conan's intelligence or capability going forward. In fact, it is much more dynamic (in terms of both actual plot and character) to have Conan work side-by-side with a new ally instead of just telling everyone what to do.

I don't really think Akai would just go ahead with whatever Conan said. I can't imagine him putting that much trust in a teenager...It's possible Conan came up with the main idea, and Akai tweaked it to his own liking.
I don't know, I don't like the idea of Conan coming up with everything here; especially the fake death. It's very disappointing, Akai should be able to predict the B.O's moves easily, but Conan shouldn't. He doesn't know as much as Akai does.

I have to agree with everyone on the Conan > Akai point. When I think back, it kind of makes sense that Conan might be a step above Akai in terms of intellect, but Akai has proven himself to be even more capable than Conan in some regards on more than one occasion.

-During 425, Akai predicted that the BO would go after Kogoro so he camped out on top of that 700 yard building and sniped at them to save the day. Conan would have really lost to them had it not been for Akai intervening, because Gin wasn't going to fall for the whole accidental soccer ball to the window and horse race scheme.

-During Clash of Red and Black, Conan seemed to be a bit smarter than Akai. His strategy with dipping the cell phone in water was the best move, and Akai admitted he didn't consider doing that. Conan also surprised both Kir and Akai in the hospital room with his big deduction of how Kir was a CIA member and was really Hondou's sister. This case has been the only time where Conan was definitely above Akai.

-As Okiya Subaru, Conan competed with him on several occasions to try and solve the case first. Every single time they competed, it was either a tie or Subaru was above Conan. In the Red Shirts case, Subaru solved the case at the same time as Conan, however he did not have access to the internet like Conan did to research the snowy mountain case, so Conan had a handicap. Also, Subaru said that Conan's strategy with the discount coupons to make everybody rush back inside was not the best move. Then during Yusaku's cold case, Subaru pretty much won out over Conan in every aspect. He solved the case first, and gave Conan the hint he needed to solve the case. He also figured out Conan's big secret.

So yeah, I think its a little silly for Conan to be hogging the spot light right now. Unless the theory that Subaru is actually a real person and is Sera's middle brother, Akai has proven himself to be more intelligent than Conan ever since Clash of Red and Black.

Have to disagree a bit here, Akai didn't solve the case he was more mocking Shinichi for being in hiding and Shinichi himself made the leap on Akai's phrase for a hint for the case, granted a stretch. Though he did blew his cover while doing it.

would be very interesting if inspector intendent matsumoto was aware of the Black Organizations existence, and therefore send the newly trained detective Amuro as a spy(illegally), after amuro revealed(because of his influence from Date) that he was send to the academy to become an excellent detective for th BO. That would be an Awesome plot twist!

It would be an interesting plot twist in the part of Conan/FBI/Tokyo Police but then it would be quite disgraceful for BO. Imagine Gin's reaction when he discovers that his organization is full of "rats". I highly doubt Gosho would involve the Japanese police anytime in the near future. I think they would learn about BO when everything's done.

I hope that Kir won't be the next one to dress up as someone else for the next X number of files. I'm getting tired of this whole "dress up and pretend you're someone else" business.
