Koori no Ue ni Tatsu You ni
Quite funny, both are endings where I didn't vote in the respective contest in round one - in case of Koori no Ue ni Tatsu You ni because I found both to be great and couldn't decide and in case of Always because I considered both very weak and decided that neither deserved my vote.
This made my decision for this round quite easy...

Always.
It's quite unfair. Why match an ending theme w/ high results to an almost losing one? I know that there will only one winner but the rankings won't be the same. I'm kinda crazy right now... so don't mind me.

By doing it this way, the idea is that hopefully all the best endings won't be pitted against each other until the very end of the contest. It also makes strategic voting much more difficult than in a fixed-match setup. Past performance does not mean future success, however, and this match seems to be a good example of that. Even though Always did really well last round while Koori no Ue just scraped by, when going head-to-head, Koori is getting a lot of support and is still a threat to win. So, even though an ending did well in round 1, there's no guarantee it'll do well now, meaning the matches in round 2 will still be interesting.takiko wrote: It's quite unfair. Actually, should Koori win this battle, we had to face the consequence that its former opponent was almost as good as Koori and might be better than Always. Actually, with the system we're using the ending that did worst in the first round could be the 2nd best ending of all endings.
However, this problem is always given as long as we don't make a system where each ending is paired against every single other - but this would create 34x33=1122 fights - or use the Swiss system, but I don't know if it's suited for percentage results...

This system really is unfair. The away songs have no chance to prove themselves on home turf.

...This is my house. They're all "away" teams.scineram wrote: This system really is unfair. The away songs have no chance to prove themselves on home turf.

I thought we were voting for song + sequence, not song only... That's the objective way of going about it.scineram wrote: This system really is unfair. The away songs have no chance to prove themselves on home turf.

Really, you should vote for whatever means the most to you in an ending. For some, song and sequence are equally weighted. For others, one is more important than the other.ssjup81 wrote: I thought we were voting for song + sequence, not song only... That's the objective way of going about it.

Hm, well for me, I go by song + sequence. I have since the beginning. I feel it'd be unfair to choose one over the other based on just song alone.c-square wrote:Really, you should vote for whatever means the most to you in an ending. Now, I might do what you said if I feel both ending choices for me rank about the same, then I'd go with either which I feel had the better song or sequence.

Just to illustrate it:c-square wrote:Really, you should vote for whatever means the most to you in an ending. For some, song and sequence are equally weighted. In my case, the most important thing is the melody. This normally decides it.
If not, the lyrics are taken into account, especially how well they fit the series, but there has to be a significant difference, otherwise I won't base my decision on them.
After this, animation may be taken into account, but only if one animation is really much, much better than the other one.

Koori no just because one, it was the first ending I ever listened to, two, because it was the first Japanese song I ever sang, and three, because it's an awesome song.
Always is awesome too but... everyone's voting for Always and I feel that Koori no is being neglected a little.
