Guys, I wouldn't have asked if I didn't try to figure it out myself at first. Actually, I watched the episode three times and the part with Conan's explanation around 20 times and still didn't get it. I mean, I did understand the burning the rope part, but I couldn't visualize how the heck was the victim killed, it seemed so unrealistic. I was thinking the pressure from something like pulling a rope down and making it sink to the ice would not be enough to strangle somebody as it would've been too weak. All in all, the reason why I didn't understand the trick was because I couldn't visualize it in the right way (because of the absurd way of killing).

From the whole AO streak this was the worst episode for me, followed closely by "Takagi Finds 30 Million Yen". "Flowerbed Vandal" was actually a nice episode, mainly because it had something DC doesn't usually have - a "good" victim and a "bad" culprit. I'm usually sick of these "victim was a bad guy, so he got what he deserved from the good guy who he hurt", so it's nice to watch something different for a change.

It's AOs we're talking about.
But not all the victims are bad and the criminals are good.
Maybe that's the case for the most murders in DC, but not for all.

For example in 699-700 :)

...this was kinda stupid. Not too boring at least and it kinda amused me in the later half. But not much else.

I think that episode 695 was really good! The trick was clever and the killing method was really gruesome (rare thing to happen in AO's).

Episode 697: Since the client is Ran and Sonoko's middle school student, it will be much better if they mentioned Shinichi, Sonoko may tell Ran to call Shinichi to help them to investigate after Kogorou refused to investigate.

707 was a genuinely good one part AO. Very positively surprised by it.

Also, I liked how this episode was used to show how dumb the internet (and the press) can be.
"I wonder if there really is a God...
If such an entity really existed, wouldn't all honest, hard-working people be happy?"

Trivia: The Internet lines are supposed to be 2chan and nico-nico douga. Editing those into typical Internet-speak was amazingly fun.

It took Gonbe 5 hours to typeset 15 seconds of footage:

this was too good for a 1 episode AO. Like I'm mixed on whether the pacing being quick was actually well done or if I should be annoyed that this could have been 2 episodes and most likely better.

But it was good. It did feel too quick in a lot of ways and I have some issues with still using Sleeping Kogoro in this story in particular, but these are problems an actual worthwhile anime episode would have. Y'know, instead of a 22 minute feeling of being on a mobius strip.

Wow, Gonbe, you're pretty amazing. The quality of the typeset is good, but to spend 5 hours, you must have a lot of patience.

The case itself was pretty good. I think it's for the better that they chose to do one episode.
If they would have done two parts, there would be too boring, because they'd have to insert filler scenes. Packed with actions is pretty good.

The next one also looks promising too. It's been a while since we're had a case with a man being pushed from a building. *reference to a certain episode with db*
The AO's are getting better :)
Let's all hope they'll get even better.
