Conan's used a gun in the manga. Remember the case where they were in a bus hijacking and there was a bomb on the bus and everyone got off except Ai? She wanted to die. Conan came back and kicked a fire extinguisher through the back window, grabbed Ai and jumped out of it as the bus exploded. In the manga Conan shot out the window with a gun.
