Used to do option 2, but now I do option 3 (aside from checking posts for the sake of moderating reasons) due to lack of time.

I used to do option 1, but I get too bored sometimes, so now I just do option 2. :x

I tend to go to "new replies to your posts", check on threads that still interest me (how do I get First Impressions to stop appearing there?) and then check on "unread posts since last visit". I rarely actually navigate in the boards.
