ASL is a language, so I'd say it counts, personally.

Well, if we're going off the vein of "as long as you know word X, whether you know that word X is actually a word in language Y doesn't matter", every semi-fluent English speaker should put down 30+ since we have non-derived loan words from over 30 languages that they should know the meaning of if they saw the word. ^^;Kleene Onigiri wrote:But do I know Yiddish when I know the word but I don't know that it's actually Yiddish? :VKor wrote:Technically, since you're fluent in German, you do know at least one word in Yiddish.Kleene Onigiri wrote:I know Yiddish?Kor wrote:You forgot YiddishKleene Onigiri wrote: German

The reason why I think Yiddish is a bit different than what you describe above, is because if you (Kleene) ever encounter a person speaking Yiddish, for the most part, you'll probably understand most of what he says.
I do see your point, though. Either way, we can't vote anymore, so...

But that way, if it would count for the poll, I would also understand some Czech because of Polish. Some Dutch because of German :V And so on D:
