Re: Your Country's Gastronomy
Not a lot of Vietnamese food shown here... I shall educate people on the delicacies of Vietnam:
Pho (clear noodle with beef broth topped with side herbs):
Banh chung (rice cake stuffed with mashed green beans and pork wrapped in leaves):
Banh giay (sticky rice cake, can be eaten plain or with Vietnamese sausage)
Banh cuon (rice cake sheets wrapped with mince meat and mushrooms, eaten with Vietnamese sausage and dipping sauce, sprinked with dried fried onion rings)
Banh mi (sandwich topped with pickled veggies, pate, and Vietnamese sausage)
Grilled pork with vermicelli and spring roll
Xoi gac (sticky rice made with gac fruit)
Oh man this makes me hungry :V

Re: Your Country's Gastronomy
Looking through it was actually quite torturous. I like Viet food a little more than most food (and most foods are very agreeable with me).

Re: Your Country's Gastronomy
Time for a massive Dutch food post \o/
The above are traditional winter foods. They are generally some kind of cabbage mashed with potato (with exception of Hutspot, which is carrot, onion and potato mashed together) and meat, generally rookworst (smoked sausage) but other kinds of meat are also fine.
These are small fried balls made of some sort of meat filling and surrounded by batter, traditionally eaten as light snack with some mustard.
Like the bitterbal, but a larger and longer version. Comes from anything like pork to shrimp and even potato.
A snack made of meats mashed together. There was a giant recall of these when it was discovered some contained horse meat.
Chips with mayonnaise, sate sauce and unions. It's a very Dutch thing to eat.
Apparently there are also Dutch chips, but I have no clue what those are like.
Obviously.
Raw fish eaten with unions and/or pickles. You can eat them whole or get them in pieces. The former is really traditional to do when there's a new batch of haring and is called 'Haring happen'.
Small pancakes.
Thin waffles with a layer of sweet syrup in between. They are holy when eaten warm.
And the above are all seasonal sweets that are sold starting September till early December on Sinterklaas eve.
