It'll be released on August 5th of this year, and like the shinsoban for Gosho Aoyama's Short Stories that was released earlier, there will be a special release of the book with a DVD packaged with it.  I'm guessing said DVD will contain the Magic Kaito specials. 

The regular Treasure edition will be ï¿¥650 (8.25 USD), as opposed to the usual ï¿¥440 (5.60 USD) due to the color pages and extras.  The one with the DVD will be ï¿¥2,350 (close to 30.00 USD).

I'll correct my previous post on the episode count, by what's said in the description in the link: it's only the first MK special, not including the other two that were just announced.  Considering it's a little bit soon for all three specials, two of which will air very soon, to get on DVD by August, it's only logical I guess. -shrug-  Mea culpa. 

Side note though: I do hope they got a better art director on these two new specials.  The art in the first MK special was...kind of hideous compared to most DC specials.  Is it because the art was based more on Gosho's old, amateurish style from when he first started out, or was it jsut a new guy that worked on it?

I was too busy watching Kid with actually good animation to care about the art not being up to Conan "standards".

Amazon lists the DVD as only having the 1st special that was previously aired. (I chose via CDJapan to simply buy the book since it was easier that way and I don't own a regionless DVD player.)

The first of the new specials at least will be the same staff from the previous special. And yes, I'm assuming it seemed strange since it did look a bit more like Gosho's older style. That and this was an animation director not previously used on any Conan related episodes.

I thought the animation style was great on that special. It was definitely different from Conan, but the change of pace was nice.

As I posted a few days ago: Undoubtedly, the two Kid specials that air on YTV in August will be Conanized. The unfortunate part is that, unless they later air on Animax as "Kid the Phantom Thief" episodes or are released on home video as such, we're probably going to be doing without actual "Kid" versions. Still, I'm looking forward to them either way and suspect they will be done just as well as the first (which... may not be a good thing if you didn't like the first, but I enjoyed it at least).
