Re: What your opinion about climate crisis?
so what you're telling us is that if we let everyone in Canada and Mexico starve, dehydrate and lose all electricity, our continent might be better than Europe at this.
Sweet! ;D

NOPE.
but it show that the current live style of those who live in US and Uk & Europe is above average. so they need to think about the future and start to educate their children to not use food water and energy more then they are!

Jeez xpon. What would it matter if I drink one glass more here in Europe or not? Nothing. If I "save" the water, the one who needs water in africa or wherever doesn't get the water.xpon wrote: NOPE.

It's mainly because of the climates etc. that some countries have more water than others.
Same with food. Because you need water to produce food.

Yeah, because it's not like the US and europe have more people and therefore need to use more resourcesxpon wrote:if all food, water and energy in the world gathered and divided into each person. then everyone will have 2 global hectar.

my brother tried using the Africa line on me once when I was wasting water, I had to point out to him that they aren't in fact airlifting our excess water to needy continents. :IKleene Onigiri wrote: Jeez xpon. Also, that picture doesn't really say anything about what equivalences it defines for food/water/energy.
It's funny because you're being sarcastic here, but China and India both actually do have higher populations than the US and Europe.Parkur wrote: Yeah, because it's not like the US and europe have more people and therefore need to use more resources

Not to mention that I'm pretty sure the picture's trying to do things on a per person basis anyway.

Also, it doesn't talk about places that you can live (e.g. Most of Canada below the icy areas are actually a rocky place that you can't build anything on). The methodology for getting the information is quite unknown and as to whether it's actually applied equally for all the countries.Akonyl wrote:my brother tried using the Africa line on me once when I was wasting water, I had to point out to him that they aren't in fact airlifting our excess water to needy continents. :IKleene Onigiri wrote: Jeez xpon. Re: What your opinion about climate crisis?
Apparently, the US has 20% of the world's population but uses 80% of its resources, which does seem a bit unbalanced. No word on what Europe uses.
The water thing, though, isn't a case of us wasting water, it's of not enough money reaching drought-struck areas. Lives could be vastly improved by simply digging a clean, safe well, and unfortunately in many places that's not happening. And it really doesn't cost a lot.
You're not going to save Africa by turning off a dripping tap, but putting a couple of pounds in a collection tin can't go amiss. Even if it doesn't seem like a lot, if thousands of people are all contributing a little bit, it adds up to a huge amount.

Re: What your opinion about climate crisis?
the US has around 300 million people (somewhat more) and the world has maybe 6.5 billion people (again, somewhat more). that is around 4-5% of the population of the world. its energy consumption is around 20-25%, depending on which metric you use. obviously a serious imbalance, just with a different scale.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

Yes, it can. And often does. I donated ~£31 a while back for the Chilean earthquake debacle and have since received enough crap back from the charity to completely negate my donation. They shouldn't junk mail too much, it's true. It's really sad to waste all that money that's meant to be used to help people.

Especially if he made an online donation they'd have his credit card and such.
