For me.... Conan hasn't tried to figure Kid because he want to catch him by Kaito Kid!!! (I don't now if I'm clear, but I'm italian and my English isn't very good...XD)

I think chasing Kid is just a sport to Conan, a battle of wits if you will. He thinks of him as an opponent before he thinks of him as a criminal. It would be unsporting to try and unmask him outside of his heists.
He probably doesn't have the means to track him down as long as he doesn't have any leads who of the millions of Tokyoites might be Kid.
