It's kinda optional. Each one decide if you want to use it or not. The idea is that now Private Messages can actually be PRIVATE Messages.

Private messages have always been PRIVATE messages.  Just because two people are checking their private messages at the same time does not mean they are private messaging each other.  They could be messaging others who have sent them messages previously when they were not online themselves.  They could even *gasp* be messaging people who have nothing to do with the Mafia game!  

But people could see who sent PM in the Prep.Phase, therefore guessing those got roles active in the Prep.Phase...

There was an attack from the BO. But, due to good choices, no one died. And they lived happily ever after.
