I was disappointed by the Opening Ceremony. I prefered China's.

I'm underwhelmed by who lit the torch, but anyway, I thought the ceremony was pretty good, so very British, and it's nice to know I still remember my history lessons for my first years at uni xD

This too. I liked the way all the little flames became one huge flame at the end but not the fact they had several people lighting it.

Very funny indeed, as was the helicopter part. Just not sure the purpose of an Opening ceremony is being funny. I'm usually pretty fond of British humor myself but it did feel a bit out of place.

My favorite part was the representation of the industrial revolution (despite it being a bit caricatural) with those impressive chimneys and the fabrication of one of the rings then joining the other 4 in the air. The NHS thing was a bit strange, but still intriguing. I prefered those 2 things to what they did afterwards with some kind of mish-mash to present modern britain along with overused pop music (I did like the peace and love symbol though). And the sms on the screen...no, just no...

Overall, I can't help but feel that such a ceremony coming from a country which has a long lasting history and culture feels a bit like a waste.

I said this in IRC, but I'll repeat it again here, why Mr Bean when we could've had Blackadder? D: (Yeah, Mr Bean's probably more recognisable to international audiences, it's easier to act out the scenes with Mr Bean instead of Blackadder 'cause Blackadder prob'ly would've needed speech. Just... such a missed moment of awesomeness) Still, overall, it was a laugh, though a bit disappointed with some things
