Chicken for me since I always seem to make sure I have that rather than beef, since sometimes beef is way more expensive. Although I tend to buy pork too hmmmmm.

BTW, cause this seems on-topic - how exactly do you call the different kinds of meat? I.e. pig, horse, chicken, cattle? And is there some umbrella term for several (or all, for that matter) of them? Cause German simply calls everything -fleisch (-meat), but English has pork (pig, right?) and beef (apparently not chicken, but otherwise no idea), and probably others, and I never managed to figure out what they mean :x

Beef is cow meat, pork is pig meat, chicken is chicken meat, fish is fish meat. I think we just call horse meat horse meat, but it's not a very common dish in English-speaking countries afaik.

chicken is chicken
beef is from cattle
pork, bacon, ham is from pigs
chicken is white/dark meat (depending on the part of the chicken)
horse, cattle, other mammals are red meat (there are exceptions to this, but generally mammal = red meat = mammal)

Steak is also from cattle, the difference is that steak is a large cut. Sometimes other types of meat are also called steak, but those have whatever type of meat they are before it (like "fish steak")

so the closest thing to your term would probably be "red meat".

Huh. I read an article somewhere where cannibals in South America that were interviewed a few decades ago said people taste like chicken.

It might be subjective. That same article has people identifying humans as tasting like beef, veal, and, in the case of babies, fish. Why anyone knows how babies taste is a disturbing matter that I prefer not to dwell on.

Veal is meat from baby cows.
