Signing your own name seems like a pretty weird way to start a PM.

If it's Mafia related, I start with hi or hello. Rest of the time, a joke/say something random/go straight to the point, it depends on the person

I tend to just get right to the point.

Unless I've never talked to that person before. Then it's either in the subject heading, or the first line.
But the second time of talking to that person is straight to the point.

Usually #2, sometimes #1, depends a bit on the rest of the PM.

Depends how well I know the person. If it's someone I'm allying in mafia or whatever, I usually start with "hi," but if it's someone I talk to all the time I just say what I want to say.
