The Akinator genie...

Look what I found on the internet today. It's been around for ages, since I live under a rock here's the first time i've seen it:

http://en.akinator.com/

Its similar to 20 questions, you just think of any character from any show/movie/cartoon.

Has anyone heard about it before? If not, post your results. It managed to get 17/18 of mine, the incorrect one being Anokata. (It tried internet troll and the boogeyman)

I think it's freaking amazing. If anyone knows how it actually works, i'm dying to know. I think that it just has a huge list of people contributed by everyone over the years(it probably got lots wrong when it first started), and it just deletes the ones that don't fit when you answer a question.

yeah, that's basically how it works. That's one of the reasons that it's hard to make it give you anokata, because with so little info it can't really rule out the other possible characters (and anokata had only been played 8 times before). :P

But, now I told it that Anokata's the leader of a group, so hopefully he'll be able to get it more easily now :V

Took ages to get The Doctor, got Amy quite quickly and got Sherlock quicker still, but didn't get P!nk at all. Fail, bot. Oh, and it didn't get Rory either. Right after Amy, too!

It also depends on the language and country you choose. Brithish Akinator didn't know Cameron Mitchel (SG-1) but american knew

Edit: Took him AGES to quess Junji Ito
Edit2: And he didn't quess Trope-tan

Really? It got the Doctor, Rory and Sherlock first go for me (and considering the 10th question for the Doctor one was "Is your character a Time Lord?" :-X).
Other than that, took ages to get Anokata and it got L first go \o/.

It got successfully Ash and Kogoro. I'll try to think of something more complicated.

EDIT: Didn't get Shiratori, though it did get the main character from an obscure anime...

OMG it got Moomin, Nils and Marco :o

Man this is the definition of hax, it didn't get it right first time but when it continued and the first question it asked was "does your character have a smartphone" then I was like "ok here it comes" and then it started asking if the character was from a detective story etc..

I seem to recall Akinator being better 2 years ago. There are characters he got back then that he doesn't seem to get that well anymore.

When I did Shiratori, it first gave me Takagi. Later, it pulled out the 'not for children' card, which I've come to think is somewhat standard when it's too indecisive.
