Fear Factor is basically a show where contestants come on and they're like "I'm not really a fan of spiders" so they put the contestant's face in the bottom of an open bucket and then pour a bunch of spiders onto their face. Also things like walking on narrow beams in high places, being chained underwater and having to unhook a key and free yourself, that kinda thing (of course, it's not *actually* dangerous as there's staff people in diving suits watching you, harness if you fall, etc, but then you fail and you lose)
dunno if they've moved on to different things, but that's what it was like when it first came out.
