Brb ripping apart the fabric of space

Postby Akonyl » December 7th, 2011, 11:09 pm

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/scie ... space.html

"Hey Steve"
"Oh, hey, Bob"
"What's that you got there?"
"Just a massive configuration of lasers"
"Oh. It's pretty big, how much oomph does it take?"
"Eh, not much. It's gonna take 100,000 times the electrical output of the entire world, but only for a fraction of a second so it's no big deal."
"...A hundred thousand. So, uh, what are you gonna do with it?"
"I'm gonna shoot nothing with it."
"...uh huh. Why?"
"Oh, I'm gonna shoot that nothing so hard it's basically gonna rip apart space itself. No big deal."
"...sweeeeeet."

I like science as much as the next person, but why does it seem that there's always some experiment that may possibly lead to our impending doom? ._.

Why do we have to have the answer to everything anyway? No one would ever be around long enough to hear all of the answers that were figured out so... :VVVV

I'm not against these sort of things necessarily but I swear the justification is usually "well, other insane stuff helped people somehow, maybe this will too m i rite guys?"

that is the only thing I could think of that didn't remind me of how stupid the world is considering this is possible and we still have as many problems as we do
