My main problem with the large majority of fanfics out there is language. For me, bad grammar/spelling/syntax etc. can really ruin a story - I've lost count of the number of fics that I stopped reading halfway through because of such problems, even though the plotline actually was pretty good. OOCness bothers me as well, but to a smaller extent, just as long as it doesn't go overboard.

Same. The problem with fanfic is that the 90% isn't filtered out. And some of the 90% really is atrocious. *coughMyImmortalcough*
