I love reading and writing them, but there are a few things that have to be met so I enjoy reading them.

Proper grammar and spelling
Plot that makes sense and doesn't drag on forever
Something that is not discontinued.

Agreed. I particularly hate deadfic. It's why I'm in the habit of not posting stuff until I've finished it, with the exception of my Nuzlocke fic.

Same. The problem with fanfic is that the 90% isn't filtered out. And some  of the 90% really is atrocious. *coughMyImmortalcough*

I only got through about half a chapter of *cough* before my brain spluttered and died... amazingly enough, my roommate actually managed about one a half before her brain fried itself as well o.O

(In this case, I believe that atrocious is an atrocious understatement. Actually, I also believe that the English language simply isn't up to the task of describing it but again, that's just me.)
