Writing when you don't feel like writing

Postby bluekaitou1412 » October 27th, 2011, 2:17 am

Just asking, how do you feel when you're being forced to write prose or what-not but is not really up to it? Do you like being pressured? Do you write better when there is a deadline?

If there's no deadline I barely get anything done :P

For me, it just depends on the subject.  If it's something I'm at least a little interested in, I'll get it done much easier than otherwise.

too bad :P

but yeah, as far as assignments go, I dislike subjects I don't care much about more than deadlines, but both are pretty annoying to me.

If I'm being forced to write something, usually I can come up with something, but it's generally a bit lower quality since I don't get that same sense of care for it :/

Like Stopwatch, if I don't have deadlines I won't get things done...unless I'm really into it. If I'm really into it, I can write 43 pages in two days (not kidding, true story there)

I'll procrastinate, get distracted, etc. if there's no deadline. Proof is the number of WIP stories I have (40-something?). :-X

If I have little or no interest in the topic, the stuff I write is actually quite horrible. Deadlines don't affect me quite as much in comparison, though writing essays under time constraint does cause my vocabulary to shrink mysteriously - no idea why. The only deadlines that I'm fine with are those I set for myself... though that doesn't mean I will always finish writing whatever I'm supposed to. (Thus the number of WIP fics that fill my Documents folder.)

If I have a deadline for something, I write fantastically... for everything else I have on the go XDXDXD

If I'm really stuck, I tend to play solitaire while watching AMVs and let my mind wander. I'm very bad at making myself write; I'm at the mercy of my muses, who are notoriously more whimsical than Plunnies and take longer holidays.
