I gave up on trying to update my word count via the NaNoWriMo website and have instead created an Excel spreadsheet to give me the same information. My story is handwritten, so I have to count the words out myself, leaving quite a bit of room for human error. I can't type up a whole story without handwriting it first, though. Not my style.

National Novel Writing Month.

Never participated in it, but based on what I read, you basically need to write a 50,000 words novel* in order to complete the challenge.

*though 50,000 words is very very short for a novel, and would only work in a few genres.

Also, to any of you who ever plans to send their stuff to a literary agent (whether you do NaNoWriMo or not), don't do so in December. Apparently a lot of the NaNoWriMo people send their stuff to a lot of literary agents right after they're done, and the result should be pretty obvious.

All of the novel talks make me want to write another novel. I had a lot of ideas in the last year, most of which I don't remember anymore and didn't write down (I'd like to think my mind just filters the actual bad ideas as time passes ). I do have a few ideas (the better ones) in my memory, though.
There's this one thing I really want to write, but I feel like it needs an extensive amount of research before I even begin, so if I write something soon, it will probably be something else.

Ah right, and can't begin anything new for the time being anyway cause I still have some proofreading to do on some other stuff, and decide where I'm gonna study next.

Maybe in January I'll have time to start a new novel.

That's what I was thinking. I would never ever, ever, ever, EVER submit the first draft of a novel for publication. I've read my short stories at draft 1 and those are pretty crappy. A novel is just that much more space for crappiness. No, thank you. I'll edit several times first over a very long period of time.
