Re: What's on your mind?
They only removed one word and people would still know who that refers to... The censor was pointless because it didn't make a difference...
You really shouldn't worry about it because they never actually censored anything.

Re: What's on your mind?
The word "censorship" is being thrown around way too much these days.
Here's an excerpt from an ACLU post defining censorship:
So, ask yourself, why does your brain immediately jump at the "ZOMG CENSORSHIP" conclusion after a word ("fish" in this case) was removed from a cartoon bubble? Is its removal "imposing [one's] personal political or moral values on others?"
In this case, this is not censorship. It's an editorial choice. Most likely so that the publisher doesn't get sued for copyright infringement. Please kindly stop throwing around a word whose meaning you don't understand.
Here's an excerpt from an ACLU post defining censorship:
Full article: https://www.aclu.org/other/what-censorshipCensorship, the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are "offensive," happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their personal political or moral values on others. Censorship can be carried out by the government as well as private pressure groups. Censorship by the government is unconstitutional.

I'm from Poland in which censorship was a REAL thing up until the end of the '89 when Poland freed itself from the influence of the Soviet Union. I might better understand the meaning of this word than You.LadyCider wrote:The word "censorship" is being thrown around way too much these days.

My dad’s a soldier blue I’ll be a soldier, too
When I grow older you will see me rescue you
I’ll teach you this old song so you can sing along
When I am dead and gone the day won’t be so long.

It's annoying me that you're saying you have a better understanding of something because you were born in a certain place.
By your logic, only people who lived in a harbor city know how to swim better, or people who lived in Chernobyl actually know more about "nuclear physics" / "nuclear disaster effects"?
Besides, I bet you weren't old enough (or not even born) at that time to actually understand what was happening.
*will not say anything about the "fish removal" thingy*
/me had a long day so /me is sorry if above sounds harsh.

Ah right, the personal anecdote. I'm from one of the five remaining communist countries in the world ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Based on your logic my understanding of "REAL" censorship is probably more "REAL" than yours.Nemomon wrote:I'm from Poland in which censorship was a REAL thing up until the end of the '89 when Poland freed itself from the influence of the Soviet Union. Re: What's on your mind?
This has gone too far.
EDIT: I'm so bored at work. I'd rather have something to do than to randomly browse the internet waiting for the time to go home.
Without the team leader around right now there's not much I can do. :/

I'm back from vacation!
And now I'm stuck on that weird bottom end of the to-do list that I don't really know how to approach - somehow that upsets me more than just being really busy... Also, dentist tomorrow. Wish me luck.
