Random Poll of the Day! (131)

Postby Kor » October 21st, 2010, 1:37 pm

For me it was because of the education program. the bible only became interesting in high school, because then we started to actually analyze the text and see the possible messages behind it (for example, we've analyzed the contradictions in the text, and learned many different interpretations to the possible meaning behind stories such as Noah's Arc and the Tower of Babel). In elementary and middle school, it was just treated as a very boring story.
Thankfully, the religious and non-religious waves are seperated in the education, so the amount of bible classes in my schools were fairly minimal compared to the religious schools. (and we've never had any teacher who was religious, so they didn't force us to believe in any of this)

I've been to a catholic school (le gasp), so I've read some of it. I had a children's bible once that I've read from cover to cover (the NT only iirc).

Read the whole thing, just out of curiosity though. I'm not religious in anyway.

I read a small amount of it, back when my mom was trying to make me religious, but other than that, nah.

I've read a few sections of the bible, not because of any religion compulsion, but out of general interest. All of you should read Ecclesiastes.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

"Yes, but only because it was part of the school's program."

I got interested in it during high school. And I wanted to read it all once. But it's so long :x

:P
I've never read the bible, these days it seems imperative and critical to the lives of many people.
Some people get offended and say I've transgressed by not reading it. =\
I would love to take Theology in college, though.
And to see what the hype is all about. =P

Yeah I got stuck somewhere in the middle of "The Two Towers"

What?  I know I should have read all three books by now, but at least I read "The Hobbit" before I started with "The Fellowship of the Ring"... that's got to count for something, right?

I go to a Catholic High School, so it's kinda required. So option 2.

XD Well, I'm not sure if that makes you better than me or not. I've read both "Fellowship" and "Two Towers", but got stuck somewhere in "Return of the King", and I haven't read "The Hobbit" at all. :P

(As for the bible Kor was referring to... I've read most of it, completely out of order. Wouldn't say I've read all of it. I have no desire to read all of it. What I've read of it comes from being dragged to church for pretty much my entire life.)

"Yes, but I stopped in the middle."

It was back when we where in Ohio managing a hotel. My step father had F'ed up the TV antenna and thus we only had 1 station... >_< Needless to say I read to pass the time. I'm just happy that we moved back to Florida soon after. *hates Ohio with a burning passion*
