I really do want to see it! I just never got a chance while it was in theaters. :(

mangaluva wrote:Best not to overanalyze most movies XD (You should have heard one of my friends, studying biology and geography, going on about the wildlife visible in "The Lion King", not least their rant about how it's only the dominant male in any pride of lions that fathers children, which probably makes Simba and Nala half-siblings... yeah, one of those many things it's best not to think about.)
Yeah, I knew about the Simba and Nala being half-siblings things. XD Makes me want to go back and find out just how much of the Disney movies are completely illogical. :P

alicetama wrote:@Phoenix: I like Mulan 2, actually. Even though it didn't have Will Smith in it it was still good.
Something about Mulan 2 just really, really made me hate it. Don't remember what it was exactly. I've only seen it once, and I don't intend to sit through it again.

I'm tellin' you, it's Will Smith...
It's either that, and I heard that the 3 dudes had different VA's as well.

@manga: Oh really? I don't remember that. Oh well. I'll definetly see it again.(My parents don't usually buy stuff on DVD anymore because of the technology we have, but I have the feeling that we're gonna get Toy Story 3....)

Disney has its moments, but its acquisition of Pixar saved its life. On top of that its releasing Studio Ghibli movies helps too...

Though I still say Fantasia is just amazing...

Watch it and weep b/c I just did :(

I thought you wanted us to watch a clip from the movie with a very similar name (which was produced by Disney) called Read it and weep. It wasn't that good and it's probably not the kind of movie you want me to talk about. The only cool part is that the two sisters played the main roles in the movie.

Having seen the movie in question - yeah, it's dumb. (Read it and Weep, I mean; not Bambi) Then again, most (if not all) of the made-for-tv Disney movies are pretty dumb. :-\

Agreed on Fantasia! ;D (And it's also what made me want to see Sorcerer's Apprentice!)

Sorcerer's Apprentice was simply amazing!

Concerning the old Disney movies, I must say that there are plenty of things in them that make me laugh watching them now than when I first saw them.

Example:  Lilo & Stitch (though it's actually one of the newer ones...)

"Oh, good!  My dog found the chainsaw!"

I'm pretty sure I didn't even notice this line before.

Fantasia also made me see Sorcerer's Apprentice... I however was sorely disappointed... Granted it had its moments... But on the whole, that small scene from Fantasia didn't need to be made into a full length story. Nicolas Cage had a few funny lines, and the main kid was.... alright.... However the plot was contrived, the villain was just not.... intimidating enough as a villain. Overall it was a subpar movie that wasn't really worth the time I gave it.

Disney is a fantastic business though. They know what production companies to use to their advantage. You can't tell me that you don't think that Pixar Animation studios doesn't put out some of the best movies for Disney. Every Pixar movie that I can recall is amazing.... And Studio Ghibli? Well... I can't say I like EVERY Ghibli film.... However what movies I like from them, I REALLY like... (ie: Loved Howl's Moving Castle, but Ponyo... not so much)

Disney doesn't exactly produce many fantastic movies on its own anymore, but they don't need to... They have already proven themselves over almost the last century (I believe it has been about 90 years of being in business, and about 80 of producing media) They have done enough... They have made their iconic characters.... You can't remake Micky and Goofy as much as WB can remake Bugs and Daffy...  These companies that started the animation industry can LET others produce for them for better or for worse. Both WB and Disney, the pioneers in animation both don't do much direct work from their animation studios anymore... However neither NEEDS to.  (Though personally I think WB is better off being adult oriented, and they always have been. In fact... -goes to make a WB thread-)

Very much agreed. Also, we couldn't feed the Jonas Failures to Shenzi, Banzai and Ed, could we?
