Finally a reason to post in this thread!

Lately, I felt like my luck and success were decreasing due to some performance tests not going as well as I hoped. Then there was the audition to the Salsa Ensemble which didn't go well AT ALL (due to not getting any response, I believe I didn't pass. This school is a mess it doesn't really let us know, so I should check it out). And today, there was an audition to an African Ensemble - the problem was, that we only got the repertuar 4 days ago, and the charts were so difficult! It was impossible to prepare them in four days. So I came to the audition today with a horrible feeling (Everyone did. Some didn't even look at their charts before), but the instructor turned out to be a really cool guy who understood that it was impossible for most of us to learn everything perfect. It was enough for him that I tried and that we (him and me) tried to work together on the charts during the audition itself.
I still wasn't sure if I passed, but just now I looked at my school's website, and I found out I did.
If I didn't pass in the Salsa Ensemble, then its too bad, because I wanted to be there, but thankfully, there's another ensemble (eastern/arab music) during that time slot, and I passed that audition as well. Since I already participate in a Samba Ensemble, I don't feel like it's such a loss, and there's nothing bad about arab music, in fact, I've wanted to play this music for some time, but I've never had anyone to instruct me in the genre. (latin, jazz, classic, african, arab, rock. Maybe in Berklee there will be an Asian Ensemble? *wishful thinking*)
the only problem would be to produce quarter tones in a western flute which is supposed to produce half tones. It's not impossible, but can be tough (in arab music, there are quarter tones). I might as well simply buy an arab flute, but I'm still getting used to my new alto flute, and I also have the audition to Berklee in two months, so if I buy a new flute, it would be only after December.
