I still don't understand the point of this poll. The male-female ratio is displayed in the Statistics Center (in General Statistics at the left bottom). So what do we need a poll for?

I'm still siding with conia on this, as as an anonymous poll, it's bound to get more accurate results (at least from those who choose to vote in it) than people who post it in their profiles.

Except if people simply vote for the other gender (or literally "other") simply because it's funny. That's much less likely to happen in a profile thanks to the he/she confusion. Not to mention that the likeliness of people not specifying their gender in their profiles should be independent from their gender.

I'm going to guess that females are more likely than males to not report their gender when given the option. No scientific papers to prove that hypothesis.
