I really think it is funny. Whenever I hear it I feel like I should understand it probably because it sounds like a mix of badly spoken Germanic languages to me.

Dutch is very close to German, I usually understand most of it, even if takes some getting used to.

I noticed, but at times it sounds like badly spoken Swedish and badly spoken French and badly spoken German and badly spoken a lot of languages. At least it does too me and my big sister.

I have to agree with Dus here. Being German, I can basically read Dutch and understand nearly everything. After all, Dutch is simply a very old German accent.

No, much easier.
We used to get Dutch TV stations and after listening for a while, you understand what is being said.
