Schotland's voting today which makes me a little nervous for some reason. I just hope they vote for what's best for them, really.

Aquahorse wrote:Yuri, me too) I hope they choose the best decision. Personally I want independence of Scotland, it will be better for them because nuclear weapons will dissappear and taxes no more will come to England... My opinion.
Actually, I think Schotland wants something that can get them in trouble now. I think they deserve their independence, but at this point I worry if they are ready to handle it.

Tomorrow should be interesting. I really want a Yes, but if it's a No, I won't be crushed. Independence will come around again. And again. And again. It always does.

If I would be the one to vote, I would vote for "No". Great Britain is a strong country, and it is always better to be with it than against it. Especially that even if Scotland will get the independence, they will need help from the Great Britain in order of being completely free. Within one day they won't become one strong country that doesn't need to rely on anybody.

You seem to forget that they will need to switch both currency and add boundaries. They will need help from someone to establish these, though I'm not sure if England would want to help.

Just as a rule of thumb, if 98% vote vor something, I automatically assume something is wrong with the election (no matter what it is about or where it is). People's opinions are never that homogenous, so if it's 98%, there either wasn't a choice or the election was manipulated. Maybe something to consider, Aqua :)

Scotland stays part of the UK.

I wonder if some other European countries will face something like this in the near future. Lots of articles talked about Catalonia in the recent few days, for example.

I saw you edited, so I'm commenting.
Firstly, it was NOT the EU who organised this vote, it was Scotland itself and it was accepted by the UK with the EU not having much to say about it.
Secondly, as Crimea isn't already vaguely seen as a country, but just as part of Ukraine and their little referendum wasn't accepted and recognised by the government of Ukraine itself (which they said beforehand) their votes had little meaning in the government's decision to give up part of it's country. Again, the EU didn't have any say in it besides showing they wouldn't recognise the vote either.
Concidering these two situations are completely different and only the latter involved some words from the EU these aren't double standards. Again you come with puppet Europe, but if we were really we'd have a war on our hands. America is much more intolerant of your behaviour. You know why? Because Europe depends on Russia and needs its resources, so when stuff like this happens the EU can't separate themselves from Russia like the US does. Besides, if you think every member of the EU pledges loyalty to the US flag you are sadly mistaken.

I always love a timely Dilbert appearance.

As for it being a bannable offense: It definitely is not... on its own. When coupled with numerous complaints and warnings to reign it in and avoid said subject due to it all being so pervasive and so common that it instantly derails any and all otherwise intelligent discussions, it begins to qualify.

Well, besides Aqua's not listening to others, insulting countries and posting homophobic and sexist comments I agree that everyone should be able to share their opinion. When that opinion becomes harmful to others, however, it's important stop them.
Considering I've grown up in a country that's based on respect and freedom of speech I've learnt to respect others the way they are. I get along with people of every faith just fine as long as they respect that I believe in something else and don't push their faith in my face. When people go too far, though, it's important that people are told to stop it.
