Actually it's only one month called Adar (The Hebrew calendar has 12 months usually). Adar becomes two months only during leap years:
The Hebrew calendar is lunisolar with an embolismic month. This extra month is called Adar Alef (first Adar) and is added before Adar, which then becomes Adar Bet (second Adar). According to the Metonic cycle, this is done seven times every nineteen years (specifically, in years 3, 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, and 19). This is to ensure that Pesah (Passover) is always in the spring as required by the Torah (Pentateuch) in many verses relating to Pesah.
So think of it like February 29th - it only comes every few years. I still put both in the poll, though, because the of the likelihood that someone was born in Adar in a leap year.

Sounds like the lunar calendar. We get double months sometimes to make sure the new year is still in Jan/Feb (spring) But it varies which month gets repeated. So we had two Hungry Ghost months (7th month) a few years ago :x

I think you lost me at spring in February ^^ It's winter in France^^ and this looks like a lot of maths, I hate maths!
@Hopeless: Hungry Ghost months? It looks rather scary! But how do you...double months? What if you are born in a ghost month? *scratches head* I really shouldn't not think that much!

@Hime-chan: It's still called the Spring Festival in mandarin so I assumed it was spring. My bad. I never lived in the northern hemisphere so it never really occurred to me ^^;
Plenty of people are born in the 7th month. More likely those born in late August/early September, if you looked up your lunar calendar birthdate you'll find that you are :x It doesn't mean anything for that person, really. It's just when you're born. But it's tradition (or if you like Chinese superstition) we make offerings to the ghosts on the 15th of that month :x
