there are plenty of crashes that aren't very serious, so I would hope it's not something you need a new comp for.

you should note down what you were doing/recent software updates though, so if it happens again you can see maybe if there's a certain point that's crashing it.
Have to agree with Akonyl here. The number of times my phone or laptop have 'broken down' is... well, I've lost count :x.

Trust me, most people who've read World War Z wouldn't realize that it was a movie of World War Z without seeing the title card. The book was a reflective psychological horror based around interviews of survivors of the zombie apocalypse recalling every possible type of horror connected with the collapse of society, the collapse of mental stability, well-fed city folk being left alone in the wilderness, constant fear and being forced to rekill dead loved ones, etc etc. It's really good.

From what I can tell of the trailer, the movie is going to be a thriller. The book was many things, it was even suspenseful at times, but being a thriller or action was never a high priority and the horror was all the better for it. Basically, it might be a good scary zombie movie, but it will not be a good World War Z movie.

Well I wouldn't have been so worried, except it's not really in the best shape lately. Anyway, I think a restart worked fine for it (and no recent software updates), but I couldn't stick around long to find out, so I'll check on it again when I get home later.

I should have a rotating avatar, except with things that can't possibly fit any situation. Like my current one.

Seriously wondering why so many people don't seem to know what "spaz" actually means, especially since it's such a big deal in the UK. More people here will get upset about you using the word "spaz" than dropping the F-bomb. It's right up there with "retard" and "mongo", really.

Basically just got a nasty shock earlier when mass-clicking a friend's fields on Pokefarm and coming across a Pokemon named "Spazzy" and I was just like "DDDDDDDDDD: WHY WOULD YOU NAME SOMEONE THAT"

Not sure what it means in the UK, but in the US it basically just means someone who does stupid things on impulse, more often than not hyperactive and doing things without thinking.  That or someone who's ridiculously jumpy for no apparently reason.

Doesn't really look all that different, but I'm also just skimming.  Seems you brits are just a bit too up tight, getting your knickers in a bunch and such.  :P

I can tell you skimmed. From what you're saying you find it acceptable to insult disabled people because they're disabled. I'd like to hope you just misread and don't actually think that's true.

EDIT: Read this. The comment by Christopher something or other explains why it's less offensive in the US, but the stuff before that also goes into how Brits (and apparently Aussies too?) interpret it.

Hm, I'm a bit more familiar with the US usage, but something I've also heard it used as describing the action of being "irrationally" angry. Ex. "Geez, don't spaz." The reason I say "irrationally" is because there is actually reason behind the anger and it's not just out of nowhere. I've heard it used so much in this context that I loathe the word. To me, it basically says "I don't care how justified you are in being angry, don't be angry with me because I don't like it".

So yeah. I'm not a fan of the word.  :| Even less so now that I know the other usage in the UK.

Definitely skimmed.  I was going off of this from the UK section:
However, the word began to be used as an insult and became a term of abuse used to imply stupidity or physical ineptness: one who is uncoordinated or incompetent, or a fool.[3] It was often colloquially abbreviated to shorter forms such as "spaz". As a neighbouring English-speaking country, the insult spread to Ireland also and became one of the most prominent and insulting terms used in playgrounds.

Huh, weird. I'd never have thought to associate the term "spaz" or "spastic" with a disabled person. I have my own personal list of words that annoy me when people use them (lame, retard, gay as an insult, etc), but spaz was never one of them simply because I wasn't aware it actually meant anything offensive. :P

And, well, if it bothers you that much, manga, maybe you should mention it to that friend. I'd say odds are good that they don't know what it means to you.

I can already tell today is gonna be a short-fuse kind of day. I feel bad for whoever sets me off. But then again, they probably deserve it.

as a kid I knew that spaz was supposed to be offensive, but I always figured it was just another version of "sped". Didn't know until later that "spastic" was actually a word and didn't just mean "like a spaz" :V
