What's on your mind?

If you have some randomness to share that you can't post elsewhere, this is the place to do it.

I think he's got a problem with General American and BBC English and the way they differ in accentuation.

I was talking about the pronunciation of words. But, for example, can either be pronounced strongly (bÊŒt) (like (BE) butt), or weakly (bÉ™t), with the same sound as the A in about. Similarly, to and, apparently, do can be pronounced both strong (tuË

I have finally started to actually publish my story! For the moment, expect a new chapter each month.

The Case of the Midnight Channel
"When a strange letter summons the Mouri family to Inaba, Ran is expecting a case. She's not expecting it to involve the TV, though.
If Naoto investigated everyone who came to visit Inaba, she'd have little time for real cases. When Yukiko reports that the Midnight Channel is back, however, she starts to wonder if the visitors are connected. Especially when the image clears, unveiling yet another mystery."

Short version: I'm taking various DC/MK characters to Inaba (where Persona 4 takes place) and dropping them through the TV to face their Shadows!

It does confuse me occasionally when an American says something with a different emphasis to what I'd expect. I have to spend half a second mentally translating :P. Also, different pronunciations to some words, like 'route', 'tune', 'tomato' and the way that some Americans make 'cot' and 'caught' sound the same o.O XD
EDIT: RM'd... that clears stuff up a bit :x. With BE though sometimes that changes regionally. Not always, but enough that it's noticeable. Guess it's good you're mainly sticking to RP for BE else you'd be doomed :x.
RM'd again: Makes somewhat sense to me (presuming I've not utterly misunderstood it here) though that's probably partly 'cause I do slip into pronouncing either the 'to' or 'do' in 'to do' like how Callid says (never both though, only one at once for some reason) and probably some of the others at times. Still not learnt exactly how you're s'posed to pronounce some of those sounds though (should really get round to it sometime :x).
EDIT: 3rd time D:

Happy New Year!
The fireworks were so. freakin. awesome.

And me too, I sometimes cannot recognise American English. Or British English for that matter ;D
But we normally use British English...

Some people are weird, because that's not normal.  But now I'm curious which they make sound like the other (I'm thinking this might be a Boston or New York accent).

Tyuun/Chyuun <- Tune

(because the T is like 'Ti' then the 'une' is like 'oon' so it's Ti-oon. The 'Chyuun' is the most common butchering of that by Brits)

Wait, you don't pronounce "tune" with a "tch" sound at the start? But that's what happens when you have a "tu" combination...

Also, I do know some people who pronounce "cot" and "caught" the same way, so it's not a uniquely American thing. Although the ones I'm thinking of pronounce it... aggh, I'm not sure how to render it, with a long "o" sound. "Cooat", maybe? A bit like "coat", but with a longer vowel sound.

OMM: I'm pretty sure there was some hypocrisy in that irate Japanese customer calling me a "racist gaijin"...

I should stop occasionally checking my FB feed. I don't think I'll be able to force myself to eat bananas for weeks now :|. I need brain bleach badly.

@Manga: I represented that as the 'chyuun' if you're talking BE. If you're talking about AE though, ignore me.

I can get what you're all saying about "tune", but generally in the US, if you hear anyone say "tune" as anything other than "toon", you think of them having a weird accent :P

the worst though is people who put r's after wa's, though. Warter in the warshing machine. Aggggh.

Much more of the dropping consonants around here. Wa'er in the washin' machine!

Also, watching Pulp Fiction right now because why not and I can't stop laughing every time Samuel L Jackson talks about "great vengeance and furious anger"

droppin consonants is fine, because it at least makes some sort of sense. But where'd that R even come from? :I
