Midges? What's that?mangaluva wrote: We need to enlist midges. They are tiny, they are many, they are impossible to kill, and they are the single most annoying species ever to exist. I agree that they are the most annoying thing ever, but do you really want them buzzing around in headquarters?mangaluva wrote: We need to enlist midges. We can keep them in a cage.
...
And does everybody know that mangaluva is second-in-command in JDC? She can give her own missions, choose what she wants to do, and no-one can order her around--except of course, me and my cat (ccppfan).

Haven't heard that word for them before but my dictionary says they are mosquitoes and it seems plausible

She said midges not midgets, and last time I checked midgets don't bite people and their bites don't give you a rash.Xcommando wrote: i think when he said midgets he meant the people who are 3 feet tall.

*returns from driving lesson, having thankfully managed not to kill anybody again*
Midges aren't mosquitos, though they're similar. Midges might be a mainly Scottish term; they might be closer to gnats. All I know is that they are tiny enough to lounge on the tip of a pin, they swarm in billions, they love my blood, and their invisibly miniscule bites cause an area of skin the size of a five- to ten-pence-piece to swell up and be the ITCHIEST THING EVER. We need to figure out how to harness their destructive and annoying power without being devoured...
Or we could use cleggs. Bigger than mosquitos, the ugliest thing you have ever seen, and make even BIGGER and ITCHIER bites. And they cannot be killed. I've tried to swat them, they're rock-hard.
Midgets are a powerful force too, though. My shortest friend is roundly feared, largely for biting anything that comes within range if he does get into a fight. Who wants to volunteer to hunt down and enlist the destructive force of midgets?

For the record, I didn't know what midges were until I started working in an outdoors store. People use fake ones for fly fishing.mangaluva wrote: *returns from driving lesson, having thankfully managed not to kill anybody again*

Don't think I have experienced midges only mosquitoes and gnats, and extra big mosquitoes.mangaluva wrote:Has to be fake ones.
