I have the feeling you are not pleased :P
Why the hell would anybody be pleased about that?! Did you SEE the prequels? Well, III was pretty good, but still... VII has no reason to exist! The movies are a rounded set, and if you want more then there's the expanded universe, but what legitimate reason is there for VII to exist?!

I know somebody is going to say money, so I'm going to go ahead and acknowledge that right now.
back in the 1970s when the movies came out lucas said he planned for their to be 9 movies.
*there

In various interviews in the 1970s he said there were going to be six, three, nine, two movies and occasionally just one movie. George Lucas makes stuff up as much as Steven Moffat.

Am I the only one trying to equate Star Wars Episode VII with Final Fantasy VII?

Yes?

Okay.
I hope it's like Mario Party and someone will make a fake Final Fantasy looking logo for Star Wars VII

the difference is that here, the material was actually planned (instead of Moffat just writing timey-wimey rules to fit the story he wants to tell), the only difference is how many movies it would be cut up into. I'm also pretty sure he never said anything about those numbers of movies you mentioned, unless you're referring to how Star Wars started out as a screenplay that went way too long so he cut it up. When he was done with the original trilogy, he stated that it was the middle trilogy in a set of three.

Actually, I was referring to Moffat's tendency to openly lie about what's going to happen in Sherlock rather than Doctor Who :P

But I have read interviews where he's variously said that the series was meant to be anywhere between one and nine movies. I don't have the link, but I distinctly remember one where he was talking about how originally Leia and Luke's sister were going to be separate characters and the seventh movie was going to kick off with Luke going looking for his sister. So I have no idea what the third trilogy would be about now.

Also, I'm not into the Expanded Universe myself, but I can imagine that this will drive the fans of that mental, since the EU seems to have meticulously planned out everything happening for the next several thousand years after episode VI :x

that'd be news to me then, because I never heard anything other than 9 movies, even before Eps 1-3 came out :P

and yeah, I imagine it'll throw a lot of EU stuff out of whack, but if the EU stuff was done with Lucas's input, he may have made sure that it didn't conflict with some of the stuff he potentially wanted to include in the later movies.

good thing I don't care at all for star wars.

I'll go enjoy my amazing Hobbit trilogy with Cate Blanchette and Ian McKellan.

Also, speaking of Final Fantasy..

I need to really give this game another shot.

or you could play a GOOD JRPG. Maybe one of the ones with WRPG influence for a logical transition game (obviously I suggest Xenoblade, I'm sure there are others though).

I am completely okay with this.  Well, as long as it's pre-Crystal Skull Indiana Jones.
