Of course a woman in her 50s can still get a child, as long as she still has her periods.Callid wrote: Father, few years.

It is very, very uncommon, while the man has pretty much a not significantly reduced fertility.Kleene Onigiri wrote:Of course a woman in her 50s can still get a child, as long as she still has her periods.Callid wrote: Father, few years.

Of course not. But assume that we have one couple where he's 50 and she's 35, and one where she's 50 and he's 35. Which is more likely to get children? And therefore, concerning all children, how will the ratio of older father to older mother look?Stopwatch wrote:However, I doubt anyone is thinking about that when they choose to get married...Callid wrote: Father, few years.

Of course, people don't think about it, but being infertile makes one rather likely to not become a parent :x

Ah, I see. I was thinking more in terms of couples with that age ratio rather than couples with children with it *headdesks*

I might wake up early and go running. I also might wake up and win the lottery. The odds are about the same.
