The problem with that is that via his number we'll find out whether the culprit is male or female and what they sound like.

Though it could also be a group of "Shadowmen" and the number would be to symbolize that there will be many cases. Each Shadowman could sing about his idiotic motive and his weapon or his "flawless" method.

you could give the shadowman a pretty androgynous voice (or the voice that the shadowman's used on certain occasions where he actually talks)

also, since all shadowmen are drawn as guys until their identity is revealed, you could just give him a guy's voice anyway.
