I enjoyed the ceremony, personally : D Though I was deeply disappointed by the presence of Dizzee Rascal and David Tennant not lighting the torch. That would have been amazing XD

Regardless, the torch was pretty spectacular.

Is it wrong that I want another country than my own to win at least one medal?

No, I really want Sherab Zam to win something for Bhutan at archery. I've got a soft spot for the country, my monks were all from there and they all talked about it so much <3

Obviously a grand event like that will not go without errors

I also really love how there are a bunch of countries that even in the Olympics think more about their national needs when that completely contradicts the purpose behind the games  ::)

*thought the opening was awesome* not that spectaculair but very nicely done :P
I liked the first part best, but the music part was ok, and the lighting of the flame looked cool... I still have to find footage because I missed a part...
And woo, tenth spot, go NL!

TOP 10 after Day 2 :

1. (=) Chine (6) (4) (2) Total : (12)
2. (+1) United States (3) (5) (3) Total : (11)
3. (-1) Italy (2) (3) (2) Total : (7)
4. (=) South Korea (2) (1) (2) Total : (5)
5. (NE) France (2) (1) (1) Total : (4)
6. (NE) North Korea (2) (0) (1) Total : (3)
7. (-1) Kazakhstan (2) (0) (0) Total : (2)
8. (NE) Hungria (1) (1) (1) Total : (3)
8. (-2) Australia (1) (1) (1) Total : (3)
8. (-4) Brasil (1) (1) (1) Total : (3)

Host :

16. Great Britain (0) (1) (1) Total : (2)

China keeps a significant advantage in terms of gold medals but has the USA trailing her for the totals. Italy loses 1 place but remains the first european country with France being the second and joining the Top 5 thanks to the 2 golden medals in swimming. It still remains behind South Korea. North Korea joins as well thanks to judo and weightlifting gold medals as does Hungria with fencing. Kazakhstan loses one spot but keeps a very good ranking. Australia and Brasil both lose a few spots.
