Competent in what? Killing people? Both Hitler and Stalin were quite competent in that department, so I don't really get your point (if you actually had a point)ProfParanoia wrote: Because more competent people would have taken their place.

Competent at avoiding the internal rot or in knowing how to run a war. A different leader might have given the assault rifle a shot earlier on and allowed it to produce better (which Hitler didn't). Also, they could have been smarter about their tanks and not dumped so much money into the giant failure of the Tiger 2.Kor wrote:Competent in what? Killing people? Stalin had to claw to the top, so a lot of people could have taken the position with the same ability for garnering attraction but better at taking Finland and not looking bad.
My point was, that killing a person in times like this would either be A.) too early and another person just as menicle would take the throne or B.) too late and their second in command who might know war or foreign policy a bit better might do it.

You realize that I was joking right? That wasn't actually a serious comment.

And my comment to you was one sentence, so I don't see why me footnoting it to another post was a problem.PhoenixTears wrote: You realize that I was joking right? That wasn't actually a serious comment.![]()

Just think you're over-analyzing a joke comment.
But, continue. Idc.

Yes yes, I'm wasting time and such. But the point is, I got to make both references to the Tiger and StG. So I'm sitting pretty.PhoenixTears wrote: Just think you're over-analyzing a joke comment.

I need to know the rules to this. Are you, the traveler, affected by any time discrepancies? Does this follow DBZ/Steins;Gate/Marvel time travel rules (future doesn't change, the world just splits into different realities), Futurama time travel rules (you can make a change, but the world will account for it and adapt to it without allowing for much change), or Madoka time travel rules (future changes ala putting a new coat of paint over the old reality)?
Do you go back as you are, even if you existed in the time plane you're traveling to? Or do you do more of a time jump, where you place your knowledge/memories into the you of the past? Is the time travel machine based, power based, knowledge based, etc?
THESE ARE THE THINGS WE NEED TO KNOW, and I reprimand each and every one of you who would tamper with time without knowing the rules and possible repercussions.

I would go back in time in order to save Akonyl from the termina- oh wait, you're not supposed to know about it yet

it's okay, Commi. I have seen what is to be, and I have accepted it. Though it may not seem it, it is for the greater good.

If I could travel back in time I would invent the Ninja Turtles before they did, and get all the credit for it.

The Russian Revolution occurred mostly due to WW I. Basically Russia was losing the war (-> people were unhappy) and revolted. The German Emperor saw that and, being at war with Russia, thought it'd be a good idea to transport Lenin over there to lead the revolution (Lenin was in favour of making peace quickly). Furthermore, foreign powers weren't quite able to intervene with the situation over there due them being at war with Germany as wellKaito Lady wrote:i think if you want to avoid stalin arising to power you will have to stop the russian revolutionCallid wrote: Assuming that'd somehow work out (which it shouldn't, but alright :x), I'd probably take a really large amount of equipment, go back to ~1890 and try to get the Great Powers to talk out their differences. I'm kinda torn between choosing a date before Wilhelm I's death (in which case I can probably rely on Bismarck for support \o/) or after the Franco-Russian Alliance (in which case the need for talks is more obvious). Obviously, if WW I is avoided, neither Hitler nor Stalin will ever rise to power :x![]()
Also, I'd probably warn the guys at the peace conference about that as well, so...

I am sorry, but I cannot disregard that. I can stand it in fiction if it is well done, observe stand it, I do not like nor approve of it. But now we are talking about me here, me travelling back in time, I can not disregard it then.Kor wrote:But....but I wrote it just because I knew you'd say it doesn't make any sense D:nomemory wrote:^ ThisAkonyl wrote: didn't your momma ever tell you to not time travel and mess with the past? Nothing good ever comes from it.
Also I can not disregard the not making sense thing.
