PT calls me ako-chan anyway, so it's not like I'll protest to a version with the chan dropped.nomemory wrote: Since you didn't protest I'll call you Ako next time I feel like it.

The thing where I said I was stupid? No, it's something else.Akonyl wrote: D:

well that's good that at least it means you're (probably) not still dwelling on the first thing, but more bad because of the obvious. :/
but either way, sorry to hear that D:

I wouldn't say I'm not dwelling on it anymore, but it's not the main thing on my mind right now.
But yeah, either way, neither thing is good.

I would try to help you, but I don't know them by definition... I know if they are used correctly, but I can't exactly tell you whyDetective Tommy wrote:Conia wrote:Detective Tommy wrote: I just spent 1 hour and 30 minutes, trying to do my Spanish homework.

Yeah, I was having trouble deciding which to use based on the context. For example, ser and estar are hard to decide.Conia wrote:I would try to help you, but I don't know them by definition... Re: What's on your mind?
the rules of thumb that I followed (however incorrect they may be):
saber and conocer have to do with your familiarity with what the knowledge is of. If someone tells you something about something else, that knowledge would be something that you know (saber), and knowledge that you couldn't just be told is conocer.
So you could say that you know (saber) a celebrity, but you wouldn't be able to say conocer unless you've actually met him and know him well.
preterit/imperfect, iirc preterit's more "actions completely in the past" and imperfect is past things that were happening, background information, emotions etc.
and ser/estar deals with permanence, forget about the other cases though.
But I got a lowish (I think) B in spanish and I don't remember much of it so take what I say with a grain of salt. :V

1. Antes de estudiar con ella, yo no (ser/estar) tan buen pintor.
- I'm guessing ser, because I consider painter as an occupation. Therefore, it's describing his occupation. But then, is it imperfect too because it's habitual and not a one time thing?
2. Como (ser/estar) la senora Pinedo?
- I have no idea... I put estuvo. But I might be wrong.
3. Ella ya no (querer/conocer) pintar mas cuadros realistas.
- I put queria, because she did not already want to paint many realistic paintings.
