Ban DHMO!

Post by CoolKid94 »

Recently, I was researching some stuff for chemistry and I came across this chemical called DHMO. Information on this chemical can be found here. Due to the appalling nature of this chemical and the lack of stuff done by world governments to improve safety regarding it, I was wondering what you all thought about it.

If someone is skeptical about the reliability of the source I gave, believe the article is a joke, or think that DHMO isn't dangerous or something, then check this spoiler for additional info. If this does not apply to you, then ignore the spoiler and post your opinion.

The scary part is that the chemical formula starts with hydrogen. Doesn't that mean it's an acid?  :o

Yeah, it's called hydroxic acid, and if you put it water... D: D: D: D: ...it's still water obviously. XD

What's even scarier, though: it causes bones to explode! D: D: D: ...supposing water could react with the calcium in bones. XD

:O Sorry for not realizing it at first :x

It is a Lewis acid, but a very weak one, with a pH of 7. It's also a base too.
Inhalation of this stuff is especially dangerous for children, since they're most likely to drown.
Actually, I've never heard of it getting into your bones. But I know that in many diseases where your body swells, it's because of this stuff. Doctors call it edema.

:o We definitely should ban DHMO!!It's okay, they wrote it really well. Although I don't agree that we "produce" this substance, since it's just there naturally.
