Most Misunderstood Member
(1) Callid
   Xpon
(3) Kleene Onigiri
(4) sstimson

And maybe that will show that as I see it the BRONZE in this category should go to Kleene Onigiri
I considered using your system, but decided against it. "My" system results in more people getting prizes, which is always betterCallid wrote: Furthermore, if there is a draw, all those drawn will receive the same rank, while the next one after them will receive the immediate next rank (so if there are two users tied for second, they both receive second and whoever comes next gets third (not fourth)).

Re: The Meaningless Forum Awards 2012
The complete results (above six points) have been published now. The number behind a category indicates the number of points necessary for 100%, and is also exactly 5 times the number of voters in that category.
Winners have their number of points published in the respective winner sheet, 4ths and 5ths have them published in the table. Therefore, all the points are published, and everyone can calculate the percentage for the 4ths and 5ths too, if they want to.
Hereby I declare the award ceremony to be completed!
Feel free to continue discussing, though

Re: The Meaningless Forum Awards 2012
OK, concluding this, I made some observations:
Favorite Thread and Most-Likely-To-Still-Be-Around got very similar results. Only from 4th rank onward the ranking changed. This also makes sense - threads many people like will obviously stay around. There was, however, a much steeper and clearer slope in the 2112, though, showing that people clearly differentiated between those two and, ultimately, were able to tell whether their favorite thread was also the favorite of others.
Favorite Member was widely spread, as the missing 4th rank and the low percentages indicate. With a higher number, this should work out, though.
Funniest Member had a very natural-looking spread, and a clear, distinct order, making it probably the most "normal" category.
Mafia was very interesting. Not only are the differences between the first three very distinct (especially with Stop), but they are also far off from the rest. It also received fewer votes than I had expected, as only few Mafia-players voted (for some reason o.O). Assuming more people vote next year, it would likely make for an interesting category, though.
The Artists are a rather notable category. Even though they received a high number of votes, nearly all votes went to the same three people. in fact, it is the category with the second-lowest number of candidates, but also the one with the second-highest number of votes. This category probably doesn't need to be redone; besides the top 3, probably nothing will change.
The Fan-Fiction category received nearly no votes. A total of five members voted in it. Apparently, not many of us read FF.
Playful was very interesting. While Kleene clearly and easily won, everything else is very close. Apparently, there are few members everyone agrees are playful, making this category always very close.
Serious was the very opposite. Here everyone seemed to agree that it's either Kor or me. Apparently, poll making are serious business
Interestingly, both Jd- and Yuri Iwamoto received votes in both this and Most Playful, though neither of them got above 5 in either one. Clearly, they are seriously playful
This would only insofar be interesting to do again as the first two might switch, and rank 3 will be more clear. The first 5 rank, though, would likely be interesting, if there are enough voters.
Misunderstood was... weird. There are basically only 1-point-differences, even below five, and a large number of draws. However, had there been more voters in this poorly visited category, we'd likely have gotten a clear result.
Anime/Manga was a catastrophe. The problem was that everyone's favorite series were different, and while 22 series were voted for, only 4 of them received more than one vote. While this category is generally interesting to redo, a different concept would be necessary, either nomination and pre-election, or a huge number of votes. ("Name your favorite 10!" XD)
2112 got a rather large number of votes, the second most of the non-traditionals. As mentioned above, it was very similar to the Favorite Thread, except more focused. I doubt it has enough merit to be re-used.
Favorite Forum Pairing was a lonely thing. Not only received it only one vote more than Fan-Ficitons, it also had only 6 candidates (+1 invalid). From the result, it can be assumed that all pairings mentioned are roughly equally liked, though (including Yuricon
). Unless more people decide to vote next time, this will likely be pointless.
In general, one very notable thing this time was the incredibly low number of participants. In fact, the only reason we got something else than all draws was my 5-3-1 system; without it, in some categories the third prize would have gone to anyone who got one single vote :x
We still got a number of draws, though, and there were generally few votes, which is why I'd suggest to use a 5-4-3-2-1 system next year, with everyone giving five ordered votes per category. This would likely lead to distinct rankings, even if only 10 people vote.
(Basically, if the number of voters goes down, the numbers of votes per voter must go up)
With everything being said now, I proclaim this thread closed. See you again next year!
