Midges are tiny and there are billions of them and they bite you and suck your blood. They leave huge, horrendously itchy bites. They love me. I hate them more than anything in the world except mosquitoes.

Spiders don't bite me and they eat midges.

Therefore, I like spiders.

Also, while I don't really like spiders, I have to agree with manga - they are useful. And the ones we have over here are also all pretty harmless (then again, there aren't really any dangerous animals around in Germany, the most dangerous probably being boars, badgers and ticks (illnesses). No poisonous ones whatsoever.
