I'd want a group of about 10-20. Obviously, the bad guys would be trying to locate us and kill us since whatever we're doing is going to lead to their downfall, so I would take the usual trade routes to get as close to the final destination as possible while disguising as a bunch of traders, merchants, and caravan guards so we're not particularly memorable.
