Re: Need some tech help
First delete all apple related software. (even the settings in your user folder - just purge everything related to the wounded apple) [be aware that you loose all your settings]
Second run a cleanup with ccleaner.
restart PC.
Thrid connect you iDevice and see what happens. (Windows should by now search for drivers)
restart PC after success otherwise see 2
Afterwards download and install latest iTunes.
2)
If you had no luck installing the drivers or ran into other problems please post the windows system and application error log. (start -> system control -> management -> ... [sorry I don't remember the full path but you will find it pretty easy])

Re: Need some tech help
Let me try to explain this again. No matter what until you get the old version working should you even think of updating your Itunes!Shinjitstu wrote: It's Windows 7.
iTunes just prompted me yesterday for download of a newer versoin of iTunes. I installed that and it still does not work. I don't think iTUnes is the issue but rather the iPod itself. I have had this problem in the past but it only required switching the USB charger to another slot. I've tried that too but the computer just refuses to recognize the iPod saying that because it has malfunctioned, it does recognize it.
You need to do as korogou says up to the last step. You are ONLY to install the last version of itunes that worked for you 10.3 . Again do not install any Itunes later then that!
1) Backup anything you want to save
2) Try through the Control panel to remove your new Itunes (Win 7 calls it Programs and Features. Find it in that list and uninstall it!) We want to get you to a place where you have a version of Itunes that works. You said it was 10.3 That is the only version you should install. Treat any and all version of Itunes after that as Betas and DO NOT INSTALL THEM.
3)If the #2 does not work you going to have to do this manually. There are three parts to this, the Progrms Files Directory, the User Directory, and the registry. You need to do all three.
4) You should also for now remove Quicktime, As again in the Control Panel find quicktime and remove it
More to be added
Download if you have not already done so Itunes 10.3- You are get it from here
This is the Download Link That is the 32bit version
Follow the steps here
Next follow the steps here
After you have restarted then try to install Itune 10.3
and get back to us about if you have any questions, or where you are in trying to get your Itunes back.
Very sure your problem is more likely to be related to the software side then the hardware side.
Verify that the USB slot you are using does indeed work, by maybe putting a flash drive in it

Re: Need some tech help
So I downloaded Revo and I couldn't find anything related to Apple applications when I typed in iTunes, Bonjour and other Apple programs etc in the Revo search bar. I take this as a good sign.
But, since I don't know how to get to the place on my computer as indicated in this picture,I'm going to ask what I need to do to get here. Since I want to remove any Apple related programs, I want to do it right.
But, since I don't know how to get to the place on my computer as indicated in this picture,

Re: Need some tech help
I keep forgetting that I have multiple sources of help. I should stop playing video games too much. It's clogging up my brain. I'll try it after I shower.
Just remembered, about CCleaner, I tell it what it what to clean, right? If so, would I do so through the search bar(if it has one)? Or is it geared towards iTunes or file remnants in general?

Re: Need some tech help
That screen comes from running Revo. As for Ccleaner, just click scan and then clean. I can try to walk you through Revo if neccessary.
Did you check Programs and Features? Make sure there is no entry about Apple anything including Quicktime, Itunes, Bonjour and any plugins they might have.
Go under services (control panel, administrative tools, services. Again make sure there is no entry for Apple anything including Quicktime, Itunes, Bonjour and any plugins they might have.
Go to the user folders ("user Folder",AppData, Local) Again make sure there is no entry for Apple anything including Quicktime, Itunes, Bonjour and any plugins they might have.
Go to the user folders ("user Folder",AppData, Roaming) Again make sure there is no entry for Apple anything including Quicktime, Itunes, Bonjour and any plugins they might have.
Goto the Program File Directory (Computer,"Likely drive C", Program Files) Again make sure there is no entry for Apple anything including Quicktime, Itunes, Bonjour and any plugins they might have.
Goto the Common File Directory (Computer,"Likely drive C", Program Files, Common Files) Again make sure there is no entry for Apple anything including Quicktime, Itunes, Bonjour and any plugins they might have.
If any of the above have any of these (Apple anything including Quicktime, Itunes, Bonjour and any plugins they might have. ) Delete the Entire Folder
I would suggest you run Ccleaner after you have checked all the above
There is one more area you might find (Apple anything including Quicktime, Itunes, Bonjour and any plugins they might have.)
and that is the registry. If you wish I again could talk you through this, but hopefully Revo will do this part for you, and if you use Ccleaners Registry scan, it might take care of most of these entries.
Any questions, just ask.

Re: Need some tech help
sstimson covered all folders that I can think off and CCleaner is really easy to use
That's why I recommended it.
Just remove the software like mentioned above, restart your system and run ccleaner afterwards

I'll ask(pretty sure I will) if I need more help on Revo usage later on. Thanks for your offer.
I checked the Programs and Features and nothing from Apple was on there. But I do have trouble finding the one in bold. I got to the "users" folder but I do not see AppData. But I did get to the other places that you said to check and there weren't any Apple programs in those folders.
I did get the the registry from Revo and I did find 2 folders containing Apple programs. I didn't open them and deleted them so I hope that takes care of some stuff.
At this point, I'm about to download CCleaner but I want to make sure I clean the folders that I can find manually before running CCleaner. But I still want to get to the place in bold so if you direct me to that(if I haven't already), I would appreciate that.

Re: Need some tech help
You mean this "User Folder". Under user are folder names. In a way you should add different names for "User name"Shinjitstu wrote:Did you check Programs and Features? One name to check for sure is PUBLIC. You also might want to Check DEFAULT, You also got ALL USERS, ADMINISTRATOR, DEFAULT USER. Use any and all of those Folders for the "USER FOLDER". (ALL USERS, ADMINISTRATOR, DEFAULT USER, PUBLIC)
I used "user folder" because of this and the fact that in that folder is a folder named for your user name. THAT FOLDER is the main folder where things are placed, you might have a user account named SHIJITSTU, if so find that folder anduse that for 'user folder'.
If You want and do not mind, type the name of folders you find in the user folder and then I can tell you the "right folder to check"

Re: Need some tech help
I cannot find any of the folders mentioned folders except for the Public folder. I'm going to try what Kogorou has suggested. I'm going to download CCleaner and do a sweep. After that I'll download version 10.3 of Itunes and see what happens.
Just downloaded "Everything" and I found this:
I tried deleteing these cuz they showed up when I typed Apple into the search bar. But they said I needed permission. Should I delete these?

Re: Need some tech help
NO Any thing in that directory DO NOT TOUCH unless you like to reinstall windows. Touching that directory WILL result in your computer acting weird.
Please Do this. First open my computer either from start menu or desktop. You should see a bar with file, edit, view, tool, and help on it. Highlight the tool on that bar move the highlighted word down to folder options and click.
A window will open. In the bar this time is general(where it starts), view, and search. Click View
You should see a box. In this box will be a "hidden files and folders" Below this is a circle you need to click to highlight the circle next to "show hidden files, folders and drives"
farther down is a box you need to check next to "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). Make sure this boxx does not have a check mark in it. If it does click it to remove that checkmark.
Click ok and restart the computer.
Now when you open the user folder you should see the missing folders.
Please post the name of all folders you see there.

Re: Need some tech help
Sorry for that absence. Work and college visits are time consuming. I got it "fixed." Turns out that all I needed was a new charging wire.
