Once again a 1:1 adaptation.
The only difference was another confrontation with Spider at the end of the episode.

Have to say they are just using the same few frames of Conan for every cameo and I'm sick of it.
I think they made of mess of it. I think Spider showing up potentially ruins the plausible deniability that was in the manga chapter.

Is it me or Hakuba has a crush on Akako?

Like every other boy in the MK universe that's not Kaito? Yep. That's how bewitching she is.

Unlike every other boy it's sort of cute when it's Hakuba.

Question; where is everyone watching these? Are they on YouTube? The last episode I saw was 6.
Apropos of nothing, I totally ship Hakuba x Akako.

if only there was a thread that had episodes in the Media section
also you missed episode 7 which continues the most interesting thing to happen in the Detective Conan anime (despite technically not being the Detective Conan anime) in 2 years. At least.

I think Spider is just their easy way to make the episodes longer. Without him this episode would have been... about 6 min and 30 sec shorter... Actually, never mind about whatever argument I was making, they're just being lazy. The only time they used him a lot was when Hakuba made an appearance, and they could have used the scene where Kaito can't skate to fill in that time...(I'm not the biggest fan of Spider for that)
On a different note...the 'handcuff on, handcuff off' fighting made me laugh.

I thought it was a great episode after seeing it last night.
However, I'm going to say I think the Conan cameos are kind of cheap or uninspired at this point. In the first Kaito Kid episodes, you would have to pay some close attention to notice him somewhere in the background with the Detective Boys, and the second episode has quite possibly their best cameo (especially due to the expression on Haibara's face).
But now in the episodes, it's always Conan looking at something and then turning around with a smarmy face and his glasses glaring over his eyes for dramatic emphasis. It was kind of cool the first time, but it's just really predictable and at times I wonder "why the hell is Conan standing there in the first place?"
That was very true for me in this episode because
Aside from that, I really liked the episode. I find it adorable that
I'm probably in a minority on this, but that's why I find Kaito x Akako adorable because of how one-sided and virtually non-existent it is
and this is probably the part where you guys run me out.
One more detail, though.

I'm caught up on my Magic Kaito now and I have to say that I like Spider as a seriously threatening villain who is somewhere between magician and wizard. Also like that Hakuba is significantly less of a dick than he is in the manga and his visible crush on Akako is making my ship happy.
Agreed on how annoying the pointless Conan cameos are. Using the same image of him every time!
While it's a lot of fun having episodes like this one that take the old chapters and make them shinier and more badass, I'm also quite enjoying the anime-original aspects. I totally can't wait for Knightmare to be animated, though.

Total agreement with everything that has been said about the Conan cameos. There are literally a bajillion DC characters the animators could use, and they've used Conan every time, in increasingly obvious ways.
Also I'm still not sure what I think of Spider. He was okay in this episode I guess. I really didn't like him when he was introduced. But it better be revealed that he is using like, actual magic in addition to stage magic. Because the illusions he is using are way more impressive and implausible than anything we've seen Kaito come up with (and Kaito's tricks are often completely impossible).
That said, this was an awesome episode! There were so many great moments of character interaction. The handcuff battle was great, as was Nakamori's glare at Hakuba when he was all "yeah I'm going to show your daughter how I'm going to corner this thief that you haven't been able to catch in years of chasing him. Oh Aoko let me escort you upstairs it isn't safe here." Also I appreciate the romantic nonsense in Magic Kaito so much more than in Detective Conan because it is a convoluted web of crushes and romantic tension rather than just a set of pairings you know are going to happen, but don't ever actually happen because of reasons. Well, okay, you can guess that KaitoAoko is going to happen eventually in Magic Kaito, but everything is more complicated than it is in DC.
@mangaluva: I actually thought Hakuba was more of a dick in this episode than the last one he was in, and was much relieved. xD
When I watched episode 7 I was just like "Oh no he is being angsty and he isn't obsessed with Kid? And he is not being a suave asshole???? This is ALL WRONG." But in this episode his plan seemed to have been: invite Kid to heist, flirt with Kid's friend, catch Kid, use Kid as bait, catch Spider, be the detective who caught two internationally wanted criminals in one night,

, profit!
I just don't want him to be a hero with a tragic past it is way more interesting if he is a jerk. :B

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Might actually start liking Akako now, although she is still a bit weird compared to all other characters I've ever encountered in almost any series. Definitely will watch it again with better quality. (And did anybody else find Conan's cameo to be downright creepy?)

Yeah, Conan's looking increasingly like he's even more of a creepy stalker than Akako.
@Olive: To be honest, I found his stuck-up jerk persona from the manga to be fairly one-dimensional in the early manga. He seemed to exist solely to piss off Kaito in every way humanly possible and be utterly obsessed with him. I kind of like the fact that he has cases running outside of Kaito, and also my ship is made happy by him visibly crushing on Akako. I mean, it's likely an effect of every male on the planet that's not Kaito crushing on Akako, but I still like that because I missed that gag when it died out in the manga.
