Or do they?

This is something I've noticed, but I don't really know what to make of it. Where does this line come from?

I've looked over all of the canon appearances of Kaitou KID, the manga, the anime, the Detective Conan manga, anime, specials, and movies, and I don't think he ever says that. "Keep up your Pokerface" is much more like KID's motto, and the closest to "no one get's hurt" was a reporter saying "KID steals gems, not lives."

Also, KID hurts people all the time. He knocks them out, traps them in painful, compromising ways, lets them fall down stairs, stuck under heaps of fellow officers - getting tons of bumps, bruises, and being drugged constantly must be part of being in the KID taskforce. Heck, he even tazers Conan! So, how and when did the "No one gets hurt" line come about?

Hmm... I don't ever remember anything canon mentioning the 'no one gets hurt' policy. (Unless I'm failing as a Kid fan and forgetting something.) I get the feeling it came from the depths of fanfiction, so finding exactly where it started would be difficult. I think it just came from the general knowledge that it's in Kaito's character to keep others out of danger (setting aside the teasing of the police and the definite OOC moment with the tazer...). He helps others at the risk of his own life, even when they try killing him, so came about the 'no one gets hurt' in the fandom. (By my guessing, anyway. I could be completely wrong.) And in the canon, there are characters that don't believe he would kill, when he's a suspect for murder.

I'm far from the best read about Kid, but I second Raifuujin's opinion about not remembering any motto about not hurting people. I think it is true that Kid does what he can to keep people from being injured more than necessary to perform a trick. Maybe people are extrapolating from this? As Raifuujin pointed out, anyone who is a detective or police seems to be fair game up to a point.

This does seem like something the fandom would create, like the rumor about Shinichi not liking raisins.

The raisins thing supposedly originated from a Detective Conan Special chapter. I can't confirm because none of them have been translated as far as I know.

I thought being a caffeine fiend was the biggest fanon about Shinichi

Also I though something like this was said in Magic Kaito at some point, but maybe it is just fanon.

Yeah, the coffee is definitely one of the fanon things.... Him liking a pot of strong coffee, which comes from the fact he drinks iced coffee every now and then. That and Kaito actively painting Hakuba's hair and pranking his classmates. While he does it once it's not seen regularly...
The no one gets hurt thing though, I think it's one of those fanon things as well, though it could be from the cat eye heist... Or even the blue ruby one?
The fact that he doesn't want to really hurt or kill, however, is clear enough. That is, if you don't count the taser moment, but keep in mind he only does it to Conan who has the highest risk factor in his eyes.

I still think it was pretty severely OOC for him to taze Conan. You're really seriously not supposed to use those on children. The voltage can kill them.

That could just be a product of faulty/nonexistent research though, like the Twilight Palace case, where Marijuana supposedly made a group of people into rabid killers. Tazers are often used in fiction as a quick knockout plot device, so the fact that it's potentially deadly, especially for children, probably didn't occur to them.

While I agree on this, I keep thinking how hi-powered kicks aren't any better...

I can confirm. Conan's dislike of raisins is in Special Volume 2's end chapter "The Melancholy of the Great Detective".

The closest thing I found of Kid not killing or hurting anyone is refer in Case Closed Volume 46 file 8, panel 3, 3rd quote. Conan: I dunno supposedly he never kills.
In episode 394. Conan saids "I've heard that he never takes lives..."
