The reason you never heard any news about it is because there's nothing
new about it at all except for one story which has long since been animated (episode 219).

The above is a link to a reference page I like to use on DCW wiki. According to the site, the book contains:
- "The Resurrected Kaitou" (found in Magic Kaito Volume 1; has been animated as the first Magic Kaito special)
- "The Great Detective Appears!!" (found in Magic Kaito Volume 3; Saguru Hakuba's debut story)
- "Black Star" (new story written for the compilation book; before heading off to do the Black Star heist found in Detective Conan Volume 16, Kid remembers a heist he did stealing a clock tower that involves him matching wits against Shinichi. Was animated as the first part of Detective Conan episode 219.)
- The "Conan vs Kaitou Kid" chapters you see listed are just the four chapters that make up the actual Black Star case from Volume 16; Kid's first appearance in Detective Conan.
- And the last little stuff listed is just a written overview of Lost Ship in the Sky.
I own a similar compilation book to this one:

In short: No, it's not a crossover, it's just a Japanese comic company making a quick buck. With the exception of Kid's clock tower heist, there's nothing new at all about this book and its contents.
And you're right, there's no English version. We'll just say we should be considered lucky that Viz is even still publishing Conan's main manga over here for us to read in English. The day they publish Magic Kaito or the compilation volumes is the day pigs fly.
