Midnight Whisperers
Higurashi and Detective Conan Crossover

Disclaimer: I do not own either of the series or their characters, for I did not create the idea of having a shrunken high school detective. I didn’t create the idea of a syndrome that makes people kill each other and then kill themselves by clawing at their own throats. All I am is a fanfiction writer, and nothing else. However, this fanfiction is all written by me. I hope you enjoy it!

For those who have not finished watching the whole Higurashi series, I recommend watching it before reading this fanfiction. Thank you very much!

The Deception Chapter

Those words were repeated every time June 1983 reset itself in Hinamizawa. It never ended, the cycle of deaths. It just continued, over and over. However, the people in the town didn’t know that. They just went on living in fear of dying. Dying because of Oyashiro-sama’s curse. Footsteps were following the few that had been cursed. They could even hear the god speaking.

I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.

What was there to be sorry for, though, the villagers didn’t know. Was it because the voice was Oyashiro-sama, and they were to be next on the list to be killed? Nobody was ever sure. And then the footsteps came. Pitter, patter, pitter, patter. But when a person looked behind themselves, there was no sign of any human trailing behind them.

Then the voice repeated itself. Apologizing for a reason that was important. Were their deaths really that important to the god? The entirety of the village may never know, but several people within it might know the truth.

It was no longer 1983, though. And Hinamizawa no longer existed. At least, not to the eyes of most people who lived in the city. All there was left was a deserted land. Land that belonged to nobody. At least, not anymore, it didn’t.

However, this story does not begin in the village where the Watanagashi festival occurred. It all starts in the capital city of Japan. The Beika District in Tokyo, to be more exact. It all happened in one day, even though in another time, another world, many more days passed by. But all of this happened in a span of one day.

The detective, Mouri Kogoro had finally received a case, after a whole month without them. Conan was actually cheerful as well, for he had been quite bored without anything to solve. And even the famous Osakan detective, Hattori Heiji had annoyed Conan just for the fact that there were no cases for a month. They were all now riding in the car, and the little detective was staring out the window, bored. There was absolutely nothing that he cared about at this point, for the Naniwa Detective wasn’t here.

Staring out the window, Ran looked at him solemnly, as if she knew that something about the little boy was different today. Different than other days, that was for sure. “Conan-kun? Is something wrong?â€
