My Sherlock Scan on Sera and more

Post by rocketpropelledbear »

My first time writing a fanfic, I guess you can technically call it a fanfic but there is next to zero plot in my story. The story is about a mysterious man who correctly deduced Sera Masumi is a tomboyish high school detective and some other things about her. Check out how he does it
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10927482/1 ... -Deduction

I will much appreciate it if people can review the man's deductions, even though I may or may not continue this story. Also, do you think Conan is capable of such deductions?

Chapter two is out now, adapted from Kudo Yusaku's cold case. I tried to make sure my OC cause minimal change to the plot because he will solve the case faster than the main characters.

well done!!! more like Impressive!!! I really got hooked the moment you added the mystery girl into the picture, though I'd like to see a case with both of them competeting in solving a case, I'd probably not wanna expect a whole intense BO-like fanfiction But I'd love to see him and sera interacting up to an Intellectual Level!!! :D though there were unusual expressions for a story-telling(though I'm not experienced when it comes to the writing style of fanfictions) it was Overall Exciting and well thought/investigated deductions!!! and like you said, time is rare nowadays, but IF you're up for it, I'd love to read an actual case with these two :D:D

I am elated to hear more people liking my story, thank you. About the mystery girl I just thought that it would be interesting to throw her in the mi, but since she hides in the hotel room most of the time and combined with the fact that she is a plot-sensitive character the ways in which I can include her more in the story will probably be limited. I do not plan to alter the main plot in any way so plot sensitive items like BO will most likely be avoided. Along the same vein if I adapt chapters from canon 'the man' most likely won't reveal his deductions until the main characters have solved it, as you can see in my second chapter, because if he quickly reveals his deductions and solve the case before the main characters do the plot would be altered too much. So in adapted chapters he will most likely be holding back his deductions until the end. Regarding my OC interacting with Sera up to an intellectual level and maybe solving cases together, that is actually my intended purpose which I hope I can achieve one day in future chapters, but for that to happen I think I will have to use my own plots instead of adapting from the canon stories (it will really take time). About the deductions some of them come from research and some of them from my little brain, I think they are an area of expertise which is possible in real life but went relatively unexplored (for example Dr Joseph Bell served as a real life inspiration for Sherlock Holmes, he can perform feats such as what is now known as 'Sherlock Scan'). To repeat myself I am really glad there are people interested in the story because I have a feeling that those who read fanfiction tend to prefer romance and comedy content over 'intellectual' content.

this was my first time reading a fanfic, if there were a lot of strategic, intellectual and/or psychological fanfic, I'd probably be hooked right away!!! Just want u to know that this gave me a good first impression of fanfic ;) romance sure is awesome, but if it contradicts the canon work, I wouldn't really feel anything special about them(because it doesn't come from the actual author's mind), so I really respect the fact that you're trying to make your fanfic fit with the canon! :)

Thank you! Sorry if it feels like I am updating very slowly, my brain is like a light bulb that fails to light up half the time. As for his identity...I have no idea, I really don't. I kind of tried to minimise his characterisation because the primary purpose of my OC is basically a medium for my deductions, I don't exactly look at him as a complex and human character. Maybe in the future (assuming if my brain can ever light up again), I will try to develop that OC and give him background etc. But there are indeed other examples when the protagonist of a story is not named at all, Continental Op is the first thing that crossed my mind.
