Unfortunately porn sells much easier.  It's just easier to get people to buy things that have boys-who-look-like-girls harrasing boys-who-look-like-girls/tits on the cover.  People are so easy~

But hey that's what happened with Code Geass popularity explosion amirite ? 

Success is not how good your product is but to get people do know about your product and to distribute it effectively (I think).

I remember reading article somewhere long time ago, doujin like that actually help the selling of the original books.. Because it's a free promotion media, and some author actually feel honored when their character was used on doujins (meaning, the character is famous)..

And i know few famous Manga author who actually did some work on porn doujin circle.. Like the High School of the Death (Great manga, too bad it's on Hiatus right now) author, he's also a great H doujin artist..
